Backbase engage 2022

Backbase engage is a conference emphasising the omni-channel strategy of banks and was held in Amsterdam in October 2022.

In this edition, I was invited to share my experience of building omni-channel applications and to share and discuss about the opportunities for banks to improve their software engineering process to achieve higher scale.

I intervened on the following topics:
1. How to use an omni-channel and microservices strategy to achieve re-use, build several application, achieve scale and predicable releases.

2. How to up-skill internal staff and process to put in place to hire and train people fast and effectively to win the war for talents.

3. How to decide between build and buy and how to have the right architecture, tools and processed to be able to achieve both and make the best of both worlds.

4. Engineering practices to be able to deliver the same app across several countries and allow the organisation reduce costs and achieve high economies of scale.
